India's first gold medal in olympics-Abhinav Bindra


India bagged its first ever individual Olympic gold medal in 108 years when Abhinav Bindra won the 10 metre air rifle event in one of the most exciting shooting finals in the history of the world's biggest sporting spectacle.

The historic win for the 25-year-old pro from Chandigarh came against heavy odds as he entered the event ranked number 17 in the world and pitted against Athens Olympic champion Zhu Qinan of China and Henri Hakkinen of Finland rated much higher than him.


Bindra shot 104.5 to take his total to 700.5 in the final. In ten rounds, he shot 10.7, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5, 10.5, 10.5, 10.6, 10.0, 10.2, 10.8 to clinch the first berth. China's Qinan Zhu won silver while Finland's Henri Hakkinen won bronze.

Bindra, the 25-year-old businessman from Chandigarh, followed his world championship title two years ago to finally win a landmark gold medal for his country

Team India’s Historic Win Against Australia -CB Series


An incredible 2-0 win over the World Champions in the CB series marks the young Indian team’s announcement in world cricket as a force to reckon with.

Chasing a target of 258, Australia were bowled out for 249 in 49.4 overs registered their first-ever tri-series victory in Australia. Sachin Tendulkar made 91 in India's 258 for nine after winning the toss and batting, following his match-winning 117 not out in the first game at Sydney.

Praveen Kumar claimed four for 46, including the wickets of Adam Gilchrist (2) and Ricky Ponting (1) to have Australia reeling on eight for two, before the world champions took it down to the last over.Any way it was a great series.

The cheapest car ever-Rs 1 Lakh,by Tata


Tata unveiled the Nano on Thursday amid feverish media coverage, and said the curvy but compact car would carry a dealer's price of $2,500, affordable, it hopes, for millions of poorer customers in emerging markets.

Chairman Ratan Tata said on Thursday the design and development of the Nano was done entirely in-house. "India is a low-cost manufacturing centre, but we also have engineering skills that make these ambitions possible," he said.
